Today I began my journey from Paris to Berlin and I am currently en route to Creil which is a small village 30 miles North of Paris.
It was truly amazing to see old and new friends and to start this journey on such a beautiful day. I am especially grateful to my dear friend and TV producer Uwe Praetel for joining me on my first day.
I am going to walk 35 km today, not as far as I wanted to go, but not bad for the first day. I am so grateful to have my partner and my dog Snoopy by my side as I start this journey. Unfortunately they will have to leave me on monday as she has to go back to work which poses the first big problem: Who will drive the VW bus?
The reason I got the bus is to draw attention and to give people the opportunity to put their names on it which will travel with me. The car is a true classic, a VW T2 and it hasn‘t been driven since 1980. I already broke down with it when I brought it over from Berlin yesterday. If you know someone who can drive the car for parts of the journey then please let me know. All my stops are here. If I can‘t find anyone to drive it then I will simply leave it in the next town, take a bus back and meet the car as soon as I arrive on foot. The car has already proven to be a success! Random people stop to ask questions and strangers put their names on the bus without knowing anything about the initiative. When I arrive in Berlin I will put it right in front of the Brandenburg Gate and auction it off for charity eventually.
I also launched a petition on change.org today and would be very grateful if you can sign it and spread it across your networks. I am asking the EU Leaders to take care of the kids stuck in European refugee camps.
I would also appreciate it if you can donate to support this initiative. Every penny counts.
Thank you for reading and please keep spreading the word!
